Initial concepts explore multiple different design directions.  Out of the many design concepts, these four best tell the story of the final design.
The 'B.R.I. Desk' was a further development of the above initial concepts.  This direction incorporated the tubing of the 'School House' and 'Sprout' chairs as well as the swivel tablet from the '2 Tables'  and 'School House' concepts.  The concrete base was integrated to increase the 'wow' factor.
A sketch model was created from the 'B.R.I. Desk' concept sketch.  The base was changed to increase the chair's stability.  The chair was originally named 'RE:CON' for rebar and concrete.  It was later renamed to its final name 'PETRA', representing the concrete base's similarity to a rock.
